“The ‘California Effect’ & the Future of American Food: How California’s Growing Crackdown on Food & Agriculture Harms the State & the Nation,” (13 Chap. L. Rev. 357 (2010)) written by Baylen J. Linnekin, has been cited this week in the Washington Post “GovBeat” blog. The mention comes in response to Missouri’s lawsuit against California, claiming that the Prevention of Farm Animal Cruelty Act, passed by the public in 2008 as Proposition 2, has certain measures that violate both the Commerce Clause and the Supremacy Clause of the United States Constitution.

Mr. Linnekin, the author of the Chapman Law Review piece, is the founder and executive director of Keep Food Legal: “The first and only nationwide membership organization devoted to food freedom.” Also, Mr. Linnekin is a contributor to Reason magazine, and released an article in reaction to the lawsuit on its website.
